GRACE Parsons from Taunton was recently (December, 2018) crowned winner of a charity Christmas card competition organised by a Christmas tree farm in the area.
The 10-year-old was awarded first place in the competition, which was organised by Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Clare Hendy from Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm, which is based at Middle Hill Farm in Langford Budville, explained: “We know how creative youngsters can be, so we wanted to give them the chance to design their own Christmas card. We chose Grace’s drawing as the winning design as we loved her elf Christmas card. It was very well thought out and the elf looked very cheeky indeed.
“We would like to say a huge congratulations to Grace, who’s a pupil at North Town Primary School, for coming first place. As well as getting her design printed, Grace will also receive one of our home-grown Christmas trees.”
Eight-year-old Mabel Harrison from Tiverton, six-year-old Henry Hawkins from Wellington and eight-year-old Ina Banks from Bishops Lydeard, were announced as the runners up in the competition. All their designs have been printed and will be sold to raise money for CHSW. The cards can be purchased in the shop at Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm until stocks last.
CHSW is currently the only provider of specialist hospice care for children in the region. It offers much needed support for youngsters with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and their families at its three hospices: Charlton Farm in North Somerset, Little Bridge House in North Devon and Little Harbour in Cornwall.
Wendy Pollard, Chair of the Wellington Friends Group of CHSW, said: “What a fantastic way to raise awareness and funds for CHSW. We would like to say congratulations to Grace and to Mabel, Henry and Ina. The Christmas cards look fantastic. Thank you for all the hard work you put in.”
Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm, which is well-known for its home grown, freshly cut Christmas trees, is a family run 40-acre farm that is located close to the nature reserve Langford Heathfield, a mile outside of Langford Budville in Somerset.
It is a family-run farm, owned and run by Reg and his wife Ann and their two sons, Shaun and Nick. The family has been growing and selling Christmas trees for more than 20 years. Langford Lakes Christmas
