SOMERSET folk are invited to an award-winning farm shop in the county in the run up to the festivities for a Candlelit Christmas evening meal (December 2020).
Rumwell Farm Shop is hosting a two or three-course evening meal on December 18 to give people the chance to celebrate the festive season in its safe, spacious, airy café.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, said: “We want to ensure that people have the opportunity for some well-earned fun this year and our evening events are always enjoyable, and put a smile on the faces of our visitors.
“While we cannot hold all the traditional festive events we have done in previous years, we’re creating new ones that people can still enjoy and attend safely.
“The Candlelit Christmas evening is purely based around a meal in our café. In previous years they have been shopping events where we have had entertainment, stallholders and have been able to hand out samples of wine and food. This year things have had to change and while we cannot have the same event, we will be providing all those who book in with a warm Rumwell welcome and a great festive ambience.
“We hope to see as many people as possible at our Candlelit Christmas evening meal this year as we are working hard to create events that are safe but jolly.
“The evening includes a traditional two-course meal at £23.99 or a three-course meal for £29.99 with table service in our spacious and airy café.”
Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. Originally a potato store, David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate more than 23 years ago.
Due to customer demand, the product range soon increased, and the business grew. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved, as well as their daughters-in-law, Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional butchery counter selling its home-reared, free range pork and Aberdeen Angus beef. There is also a delicatessen, bakery, jam kitchen, food hall, wine cellar and gift room.
Its own, home-grown potatoes are available, when in season, as well as everything from fruit, vegetables and groceries to plants, Somerset-grown cut flowers, gifts and cards.
The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the café kitchen is sourced from the farm shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the café and there is a menu especially for children. The café also serves afternoon teas, carvery on a Sunday and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
All bookings are under the new tier two COVID-19 rules.
Attendees will be able to choose from a menu featuring three starters, three mains and a selection of desserts.
It will be two-courses for £23.99 or three courses for £29.99. All bookings will include a welcome drink and a festively decorated table including Christmas crackers.
