A WELLINGTON-BASED dementia charity has recently received a donation from an award-winning farm shop in the area to help with the work it does (January 2023).
Reminiscence Learning received a donation of £1,950 from Rumwell Farm Shop & Café, which was raised by customers and staff throughout 2022.
Anne Mitchell, Partner at the farm shop, located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, explained: “We’re thrilled to have been able to make a donation to Reminiscence Learning and all the wonderful work it does in dementia care, activity and reminiscence.
“It was one of our chosen charities for 2022 and we raised the funds through our quiz nights and one of our Christmas Candlelight Evenings, as well as donating proceeds from the sale of certain items in our shops, including carrier bags. We are very grateful to all our customers who helped with our fundraising efforts.”
Reminiscence Learning was created and founded in 2003 by Fiona Mahoney an Occupational Therapist (OT), who has experience in both physical and mental health.
Since its launch, the multi-award-winning national and regional charity, which is based in Wellington, has grown and changed in response to individual and community needs. It now specialises in dementia care, activity and reminiscence.
The charity prides itself on being dynamic, forward thinking and innovative; putting the needs of the client and carer first and listening to their thoughts and requests.

It’s been a fun year and we thank everyone for their support.”
Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate more than 25 years ago.
Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as their wives, Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop, which won nine Taste of the West Gold Awards in 2022 for its shop and café and also for some of its made onsite products, has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. It’s traditional, dry cured back bacon was recently given the title of overall Champion Bacon in the Taste of the West Awards.
There is also a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar, Gluten Free Kitchen and Gift Room. Its Café kitchen has also achieved Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free accreditation.
The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, Sunday carvery and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
