STAFF at a community bakery in Southampton are celebrating after receiving a Recommendation Badge from one of the world’s most popular foodie websites (February 2023).
The badge was awarded to CommuniBakes at 21, St James Road in Shirley by Restaurant Guru, which has more than 30 million users and is a wiki+metasearch for restaurants.
Ally Molyneaux, Bakery Manager, says: “This is a fantastic way start February and a real testament to our wonderful staff, who work tirelessly to keep the bakery running smoothly. It’s also down to our lovely customers too, who took the time out of their busy days to leave reviews for us, so we’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to them for doing so.”
Restaurant Guru is a wiki+metasearch for restaurants. It provides users with the complete information on restaurants, including visitors’ reviews, menus and photos as well as ratings by popular agencies, including Michelin, Frommer’s, Zagat, Zomato, Yelp, Google, Foursquare, Facebook, to help people choose the right restaurant in their city and while travelling.
CommuniBakes was started to help raise funds for the charity Communicare in November 2021 and is a separate limited company. All profits from the bakes its sells go towards the charity and the work it does to help lonely and isolated people across Southampton.
Annie Clewlow, Manager at Communicare, which helps vulnerable and isolated individuals across Southampton, said: “We’d like to say a huge ‘congratulations’ to Ally and the team on this wonderful achievement. It really puts the bakery on the map and thanks to everyone’s hard work and dedication, it has become one of the go-to places in Southampton for bakes, cakes, hot drinks and more!
“We get some lovely feedback from our network about how wonderful and unique the bakery is, both as a provider of delicious bakes and for being at the heart of the community.”
Communicare, which is a friendly, neighbourhood charity, provides services that enrich the lives of lonely and isolated people in and around Southampton.
Its services are staffed by its devoted volunteers, known as Communiteers, who give their time freely.
The charity is currently supporting around 600 individuals/families through tasks including one-to-one telephone support and transport for essential appointments and assistance with shopping.
The services Communicare provides are free to users, although beneficiaries are invited to make a donation if they are able to, and Communiteers are offered expenses.
