A SOUTHAMPTON charity is calling for people to run next year’s (2023) Southampton ABP Marathon, half marathon or 10k to help raise funds for it.
Communicare, which enriches the lives of the city’s lonely and isolated, is looking for people to participate in the event on Sunday, April 2, 2023 to assist with its fundraising efforts.
Communicare Manager, Annie Clewlow explains: “We’re a good neighbours organisation, helping people across the city, and every year our amazing volunteers, who we call Communiteers, assist individuals and families with requests including befriending, transport to urgent medical appointments and essential shopping. Anyone taking part in the Southampton ABP Marathon for us will be helping support our vital work in the city.
“We’d love more people to sign-up to run for us. Please call 023 8250 0050 or email events@communicareinsouthampton.org.uk to find out more and to apply.
“We’ll be able to send anyone who signs up to run for us, sponsorship forms and they will be able to join our group of runners who are training for the event, share tips and boost morale! We’ll also give them a Communicare running t-shirt!
“We ask that anyone who enters for us raises a minimum of £50 for the 10k and half marathon and £60 for the full marathon and, also, pays a £10 registration fee to us. We will provide a Communicare running t-shirt, sponsorship forms and tips for fundraising, as well as support on the day including from our Communibear mascot.
“So, if you, or someone you know, might be interested in a charity space with us, please get in touch or pass on our information.”
