A COUNTRY House Hotel on Exmoor is launching a ‘Gourmet to Go’ food and drink service for people in the area who are self-isolating or social distancing themselves due to the Coronavirus (March, 2020).
Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel in Wootton Courtenay near Dunster is offering a gourmet menu for collection or free delivery subject to location on Fridays and Saturdays starting from March 27.
John Bradley, who co-owns the award-winning boutique hotel with his wife Jane, said: “During these very uncertain times the majority of us are either self-isolating or social distancing ourselves, which means businesses like ours need to think on our feet when it comes to helping our customers and those in the surrounding areas.
“We are following government advice to the public regarding social distancing and avoiding non-essential contact, however, that doesn’t mean the cooking needs to stop, so we will be preparing freshly made, high quality dishes in our kitchen that will be available to collect or be delivered free of charge, subject to location.
“The service will be available on Friday and Saturday evenings beginning on March 27. There will be two choices of main course and a steak option together with desserts.
“The options will be advertised on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dunkerybeaconcountryhouse on Thursday morning each week for the Friday and Saturday service. Orders must be placed by 6pm on the Thursday evening via phone on 01643 841241, via email at info@dunkerybeaconaccommodation.co.uk or via Facebook Messenger.”
The hotel and kitchen are adhering to all government guidelines through additional cleaning, going above and beyond its usual five-star standards of hygiene.
The menu choices for the weekend of March 27 are:
Mains
Griddled 8oz Somerset rib-eye steak with herb butter, new potatoes and tossed salad*
Roast breast of chicken or baked goat’s cheese with baby spinach and roast butternut cous cous and red onion jam
Poached supreme of salmon with linguine, white wine and herb sauce and sprouting broccoli
Desserts
Lemon drizzle, lemon curd and clotted cream
Eton mess
*£3.50 supplement
Freshly baked artisan bread will also be available to order for Friday collection including wholemeal bloomer bread, focaccia and ciabatta at £2 per loaf.
John added: “The meals are provided as a minimum two-course package for £14.50 per person together with the option to add a bottle of wine from £9.95 or loaf of our freshly baked artisan bread at £2 per loaf.
“Our full wine menu is available to choose from but can be discussed at the time of calling. Suggested wines at £9.95 are Les Terrasses Sauvignon Grenache and Les Terrasses Merlot Syrah, which are good all-rounders.
“Re-heating instructions will be provided with each meal option, together with ingredients/allergens list and shelf life. Dairy-free and gluten-free adaptations can be made at the point of ordering, with the exception of artisan bread.
“People are welcome to collect their food from the hotel. If they are paying by cash, they will be asked that the correct amount is placed in an envelope to reduce the risk of contact and contamination.
“We are offering people who are self-isolating and can’t leave their homes, free delivery subject to location.”
