Award

SIX-YEAR-OLD Edwin Tustin from Taunton has been presented with a special Recognition Award from Rumwell Farm Shop as part of its Design-a-Doughnut competition this month (April 2021).

The award-winning farm shop invited people to come up with their own unique doughnut filling with the best one being put into production and sold in aid of charity.

Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the Farm Shop, located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington said: “Although we selected an overall winner whose doughnut is currently on sale to raise funds for our charity of the year, Conquest Centre, we also wanted to present something to Edwin, so he has received this special Recognition Award, as we were so impressed with the amount of time and effort he put into his drawing for his doughnut filling suggestion.

“Edwin created a wonderful ‘Scrumptious Doughnut’ piece of artwork with a description of ingredients to use including strawberry jam, chocolate topping, icing and sprinkles.

“We wanted to reward him for his impressive handiwork, so we made Edwin’s doughnut suggestion in our on-site Bakery and he came in to be presented with a box of them with his brother Isaac.

“We had hundreds of entries for the competition. Our overall winner Emma Stallabrass’ Bakewell tart flavour is still available to buy until the end of the month for £1.25 instore and online as a pack of three for £3.75, with 10p from every doughnut sold going to Conquest Centre.”

Conquest Centre’s aim is to create an inclusive equine environment that will allow people to achieve their personal goals. It offers coaching for disabled and able-bodied clients.

All its activities are delivered by qualified instructors with specialist expertise in working with people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and emotional problems, and are supported by a team of specially trained volunteers.

Its core activities include riding, carriage driving, horse care, back riding and sensory work. It aims to provide either group or private sessions as appropriate.
