EGGHEADS are being invited to book in for Southampton Mental Health Network’s charity Quiz Evening next month to be in with a chance of winning prizes worth hundreds of pounds (May 12, 2025).
As part of the Southampton City Council-supported charity’s event on May 12 from 8-10pm at Mettricks, Portswood there will be a raffle with items donated by city businesses.
Chair of Southampton Mental Health Network’s Board of Trustees, Sue Hayward, who is also a Mental Health Educator and Trainer, explains: “We’re on a mission to help Southampton become mental health friendly and we’re selling tickets for our Quiz Evening to help with our fundraising, so we can boost awareness.
“As an organisation, we’re looking at ways we can collectively collaborate to help make our city a happier place where everyone can thrive. It’s all about how we work together, how we behave towards each other and what we value as residents and workers in our city.
“During the event, there will also be a fundraising raffle with a selection of prizes up for grabs including No. 7 hamper boxes, a gardening toolkit, a Mettricks £10 Gift voucher, paintings, signed books written by one of our members under her pen name and more.”
Tickets for Southampton Mental Health Network’s Quiz Evening on Monday, May 12 from 8-10pm cost £6.50 per person, with all the money raised going to the charity.
It is essential places are booked online, in advance, via Eventbrite.
Anyone wishing to have a meal from 7pm can choose from Mettricks’ menu options and pay separately for this. There will also be a licensed bar.
Sue adds: “We’re inviting quizzers to get together in teams of a maximum of six. If you do not have a team but would still like to take part, please let us know and we can introduce you to other attendees, so you can join together.
“The winning quiz team members will each take home a £5 CommuniBakes community bakery voucher and have the privilege of lifting our highly prized, and rather lovely, Southampton Mental Health Network trophy!
“Our Quiz Evening is a great opportunity, not only to raise funds for our charity, but also to raise awareness for us too. We are very grateful to Mettricks for its support of our fundraiser. Our thanks, also, go to Barrie Worth, our quiz master.”
Southampton Mental Health Network became publicly active in 2019 and, with more than 100 member organisations involved in its development, became a charity in September 2022.
Working together, these organisations want to make Southampton a mental wellbeing friendly city, ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion for all.
Southampton Mental Health Network aims to create welcoming spaces for discussion, be understanding and supportive of those living with mental health challenges, boost wellbeing and improve knowledge and awareness in the city.
Sue continues: “We’re always looking for more people to join our Network to help make Southampton a mental health friendly city, ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion for all. Individuals, aged 18 plus, living or working within postcodes SO14-19 and representatives of organisations supporting residents or those working in the city of Southampton can join for an annual membership* fee of just £2 per person.”
The Quiz Evening will be held at Mettricks, which is located at 267, Portswood Road, Southampton, SO17 2LA, on Monday, May 12 from 8pm-10pm. There is free on-street parking in the area after 6pm.
