Junior PR consultant Chloe Pitman joined our team in 2020.
When she wasn’t writing web copy, media releases or managing clients’ social media, we caught up with her to find out more about how she fills her time.
Before Porcupine PR
While completing her BA (Hons) in Multimedia Journalism, Chloe undertook a range of work experience in sectors including journalism, PR and marketing.
She explains: “In my first year, I had an amazing opportunity to do a couple of weeks at Marie Claire Magazine in London and had two articles published in their online magazine.
“Then in my second year, I had a week at Lodestone Property, where I worked for their PR team creating media kits and coming up with new ideas for their social media.
“Finally, in my third year, I spent a week at Cognique Marketing where I looked at different social media styles and how companies can improve on their postings. I also tackled writing some blogs.
“It wasn’t until my last year at university when I was able to choose PR as one of my units to study, that I realised it was what I wanted to pursue as my career. As soon as I started, I loved it straight away and could see myself working in the sector.”
So, what does a normal day look like for Chloe?
“I log onto my computer at around 8.55am and start checking through any emails and reply to any that I have received from clients and my colleagues in-house.
“I then go and check all my clients’ social media accounts and look for any messages and comments I can reply to and like.
“After this, I add any additional tasks to my jobs’ list for the day and I get cracking.
“My lunch is at 1pm until 2pm, and I re-check clients’ social media in case anything new has come up, as well as checking emails and tackling anything urgent. I then carry on with my tasks for the day.
“We finish the day by sending a ‘have a good evening’ email round at 5.30pm Monday-Thursday and at 5pm on a Friday.”
How have you found settling in?
“I was welcomed into the Porcupine PR family with open arms and will always be grateful for the opportunity.
“It’s a close-knit team, we can go to each other for anything and someone will be there to help. It definitely feels more like a work family than just co-workers. I also love that I am learning new things and improving my skills every day.”
So, how does Chloe spend her spare time?
Outside work, Chloe is an avid netball player and she likes to keep herself active in a variety of ways, while also spending time with those she loves the most.
“When I’m not working out or playing netball, I like to spend time with friends and family, go shopping, or walk my cockapoo, Archie.
“I also like to go to new places and travel around as much as I can.
“I have just recently completed my level 1 netball coaching qualification and some evenings I also work at a bar called the Victoria Club.”
Lastly, how would your friends describe you?
“I think they would definitely put me as an outgoing and determined person, as I am always up for a challenge and put my all into everything I do, since I always want to do well and succeed.
“Moreover, I am very loving and affectionate. I make sure I am always there to support and care for my friends and family, who mean the world to me.”
