Water feature

IF YOU’RE keen to create a relaxing yet quirky and eco-friendly water feature in your outdoor space, then the new Liberty 200 pump from Blagdon is just what you need (2020).

The mains-free, solar-powered, easy-to-install pump links to a free handy, online video guide giving step-by-step instructions on how to build the feature too.

Development Manager at Blagdon, Andrew Paxton explained: “Priced at £69.99 (SSP), it’s perfect for creating an unusual water feature in all sorts of different gardens, whether you have a country cottage with a cobbled courtyard or a bijou, ultra-modern urban terrace.

“The Liberty 200 pump, which has no running costs, is easy to set-up and eco-friendly. It uses a high-performance, long-lasting, solar re-chargeable Lithium-ion battery and a high-powered 2.5w solar panel.

“So, you don’t need mains power and therefore you can site it anywhere you wish in your outdoor space and the only thing that will hold you back is your imagination!”

The video goes through what you’d need to create the water feature, what the Liberty 200 pack includes, how to successfully seal your sink’s plug hole, making the hole relevant for the water pipe first and how to attach the pump to circulate the water to create the feature using the tap fitting.

There is also clear guidance on siting the solar panel to ensure optimal sunlight, for example, it needs to be at a 45° angle from vertical, facing as close to due south as possible, kept clean and not shaded by any plant growth.

There are further visual instructions for the flexible timer function, so you can set the fountain to come on when you wish, for four hours within a 24-hour period, for example in the evenings after work.

To add to this, it has an LED light ring, which lights up after dark, creating additional ambience while dining or entertaining outdoors.

The pump was conceived, designed and tested in the UK and as such, unlike some other solar devices, is fully compatible with British weather conditions.

The product’s solar and battery technology means there is no need to add mains power to an outdoor area to create a water feature and that it can be situated wherever you wish.

The Liberty 200 has been designed in the UK to be incredibly versatile. Its adaptable kit gives the consumer the freedom to create whatever water feature they would like. The pump comes with all the fittings, including a pond float and anchor, and four fountain effects, needed to make a series of different contemporary water features.

Andrew added: “As well as the sink and tap water feature idea, the other water features you can create with the pump include a pot water fountain using a plant pot or any suitable home-made receptacle and a pond fountain, using the float and anchor, and the four different fountain heads provided. We’ve created ‘how-to’ videos for all these options.

“The films for each of these different styles of water feature are designed to help inspire people and, also, to provide an easy-to-use, step-by-step guide for them to follow. We hope people come up with lots of other fun and funky ways to use the Liberty 200 too. It’ll be great to see just how whacky some of these ideas are!”

The videos can be viewed here and can be used on social media and on websites:
