PLANT lovers from Southampton can purchase a range of new plants for their gardens or homes at a plant sale in aid of charity next month (April 2023).
Communicare is hosting the event on April 29 at CommuniBakes, at 21, St James Road in Shirley with all money raised going towards the work it does helping vulnerable and isolated people in Southampton.
Emily Arbery, Fundraising and Finance Coordinator at Communicare, said: “We’re hosting our plant sale at the community bakery, CommuniBakes on April 29 from 10am until 12.30pm.
“People have been asked to sow extra seeds for us and donate plants on the day, and we’re very excited to see what people will very kindly donate for us to sell to help raise funds for us and the work that we do. We hope lots of people come along to the sale. Those that do will be able to pick up a sweet or savoury treat, or two, from the bakery too. It supports our work, so you can enjoy a cake or take home a loaf and know you’re helping people in the area at the same time.”
Communicare, which is a friendly, neighbourhood charity, provides services that enrich the lives of isolated people in and around Southampton.
Communicare’s services are staffed by its devoted volunteers, known as Communiteers, who give their time freely.
The charity is currently supporting around 600 individuals/families through tasks including, befriending, transport for appointments and assistance with shopping.
The services Communicare provides are free to users, although beneficiaries are invited to make a donation if they are able to, and Communiteers are offered expenses.
The Communicare plant sale will take place at CommuniBakes at 21, St James Road, Shirley, Southampton on Saturday, April 29 from 10am until 12.30pm.
