SOMERSET quiz buffs are being challenged to test their general knowledge once again in aid of charity at a family-run farm shop in the county this month (September 2022).

Rumwell Farm Shop & Café is hosting a Charity Quiz & Supper Evening in aid of one of its Charities of the Year, Love Musgrove, on Friday, September 23 at 7pm.

Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, explained: “Our popular quiz night is back, this time in aid of one of our Charities of the Year for 2022, Love Musgrove.

“We’re inviting people to get together in teams of a maximum of eight to have fun quizzing, while also helping us raise money for a great local charity. The winners of the quiz will take home some wonderful prizes to be shared with each team member and the glory of winning our Rumwell Cup. This is our last quiz of the year, so whichever team wins gets to be our reigning champions until January 2023!

“Our last Charity Quiz & Supper Evening in May was a great success and raised £304 for our other Charity of the Year, Reminiscence Learning, so we’re hoping to have an equally successful evening in September.”

During the Charity Quiz & Supper Evening there will also be a raffle with a selection of prizes from our shop, our suppliers and friends. All of the money from the raffle will be donated to the charity.

Supper will be served from 7pm with hot food options followed by a choice of desserts. The supper will cost £16.99 for two courses and the price includes a £1 quiz entry fee. Proceeds to the charity. Tables must be booked online via this link: https://bit.ly/3PSasar.

Love Musgrove funds things at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton above and beyond what the NHS covers. It helps to create a comfortable, engaging environment for patients that supports family and friends too.

The charity also provides staff with training and development opportunities, including state of the art equipment, and enables wards to buy items to make patients’ stays more comfortable.

Musgrove Park Hospital serves a population of more than 544,000 people across Somerset with more than 740 beds, 34 wards, 15 operating theatres, a fully equipped imaging department and a purpose-built cancer treatment centre.

Zoe Steer, Head of Fundraising at Love Musgrove, says: “We really appreciate everyone who signs up to get involved in Rumwell’s Quiz and Supper Evening and raises money for us as every penny is extremely helpful towards the work we do.”

Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. Originally a potato store, David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate 25 years ago.

Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as daughters-in-law Sophie and Donna.

Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. There is also a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar and Gift Room.

The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.

Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, Sunday carvery and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.

The Charity Quiz & Supper Evening in aid of Love Musgrove will take place at Rumwell Farm Shop on Friday, September 23 from 7pm.
