FAMILIES from Somerset are invited to an award-winning farm shop this month (October 2022) for a spooky Halloween Tea.
Rumwell Farm Shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, is hosting the tea on Sunday, October 30 from 3.30pm until 5.30pm to celebrate Halloween.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the Farm Shop, said: “Our Halloween celebrations are always popular and this year is no exception as we will once again be hosting a spooky-themed tea for children and their families, which will include a table-based tea with an age specific activity pack including, colouring, wordsearch and mask making for each child.
“Youngsters will get the chance to scoop out one of our pumpkins and draw a frightening face on the front. Our staff will then take it to the kitchen and carve the design for them to take home.
“Children and adults are welcome to come in fancy dress and scary get-ups such as ghouls and witches. All forms of fancy dress are welcome, the more imaginative the better! We’ll be presenting a prize for the best costume on the day too.
“We’re looking forward to seeing some of the fabulous fancy dress that we’re sure children and adults will arrive in. All the children who attend will be able to enjoy either a beef burger and French fries or sausage and French fries followed by one of our Bakery’s famous mini doughnuts. Refreshments will be available for adults too.”
Tickets for the Halloween Tea cost £9.25 per child and includes food, an activity pack and a pumpkin to create a design on, which will be carved by the Rumwell Café team for children to take home.
Adult tickets are £6.50 per person and will include a hot drink and a choice of cake from our selection.

Rumwell Farm Shop, which has won nine Taste of the West Gold Awards this year for its shop and café and also for some of its made onsite products, has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. There is also a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar and Gift Room.
Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as their wives Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. It’s traditional, dry cured back bacon was recently given the title of overall Champion Bacon in the Taste of the West Awards.
There is also a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar and Gift Room.
The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, Sunday carvery and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
