Rumwell Farm Shop

FLOWER lovers from Taunton can pick up posies of seasonal blooms from a farm shop in the area from this month (September 2020).

Hannah Dyke from The Blackdown Flower Garden is supplying customers at Rumwell Farm Shop, on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, with seasonal bunches or a posy in a jar.

She said: “I’m thrilled to be supplying Rumwell Farm Shop with our beautiful seasonal cut flowers. We will regularly be stocking fresh posy bunches for £10 or a posy in a jar for £8.

“They are perfect for customers who fancy treating themselves to a scented mood booster or who might be looking for a gift for a friend or loved-one.

“I run the business alongside my mum, Jane, and we are passionate about providing people with unique, beautiful blooms that will bring joy, colour and happiness to a home or business.”

The Blackdown Flower Garden is based in the heart of the Blackdown Hills in Somerset.

Hannah and Jane began the business in early 2020 and now supply seasonal flower bouquets for delivery in the nearby area as well as wedding flowers and flowers for businesses.

Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of Rumwell Farm Shop, said: “As an independent business, we know how important it is to be supported by others, so when sourcing products for our farm shop, we always make sure they come from businesses in the nearby areas and the Westcountry and The Blackdown Flower Garden is the perfect supplier for us.

“The flowers have already been hugely popular and are giving the shop a beautiful scent. We hope people pop in and pick up a bunch or two.”

Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate.

Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as daughters-in-law Sophie and Donna.

Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional butchery counter selling free range pork and Aberdeen Angus beef reared just four miles away on the family farm. There is also a delicatessen, bakery, jam kitchen, food hall, wine cellar and gift room.

Home grown potatoes are also still available, when in season, as well as everything from fruit, vegetables and groceries to plants, flowers, gifts and cards.

The food prepared in the Rumwell Café kitchen is sourced from the farm shop, the Mitchell family farm and regional suppliers. Families are welcome to the café and there is a menu especially for children.
