THREE youngsters from Somerset were recently announced as the winners of Rumwell Farm Shop’s spud-tacular model competition and will have photos of their models on display for all to see (February 2021).
The farm shop invited children up to the age of 11 to enter the Potato Modelling competition and photos of some of the entries are now being displayed in an online gallery at https://bit.ly/2N16Ibg.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, said: “We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Molly Tremblay, aged four, from Taunton, who was the winner in our two-four-year-old category, Natalia Paclea, aged seven, from Taunton, who was the winner in our five-eight-year-old category and Jasmine Belle Simmons, aged 10, from Wellington, who was crowned the winner in the nine-11-year-old category.
“Each of the talented young modellers were awarded a prize of a goody bag full of gifts and chocolate and photos of their models are currently on display in our shop this month for all to see.
“A massive thank you to everyone for entering, all of the models were fantastic and it was a difficult decision to choose the overall winners. People can view some of the pictures of the models on our website at https://bit.ly/2N16Ibg.”
Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. Originally a potato store, David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate more than 23 years ago.
Due to customer demand, the product range soon increased, and the business grew. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved, as well as their daughters-in-law, Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional butchery counter selling its home and free-range pork and Aberdeen Angus beef. There is also a delicatessen, bakery, jam kitchen, food hall, wine cellar and gift room.
Its own, home-grown potatoes are available, when in season, as well as everything from fruit, vegetables and groceries to plants, Somerset-grown cut flowers, gifts and cards.
The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the café kitchen is sourced from the farm shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the café when it is open and there is a menu especially for children. The café also serves afternoon teas, carvery on a Sunday and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
