SOUTHAMPTON folk who are struggling with the current cost-of-living crisis are being invited to attend warm spaces being run by two charities in the city until the end of March (2023).

The sessions hosted by Saints Foundation in partnership with Communicare will provide somewhere warm and sociable for people to go as well as a free hot lunch.

Annie Clewlow, Manager at Communicare, which helps vulnerable and isolated people, said: “As the cost-of-living crisis really hits, some people are having to choose between heating their homes or feeding themselves and their families, so we have teamed up with the Saints Foundation to host these warm spaces, which are much needed at the moment.

“Anyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the warmth, they can also tuck into a free hot lunch and have a chat with the other people who come along. There will also be the chance for them to take part in an exercise session if they choose to, to really get the heart pumping and warmed up.

“The sessions will run from Tuesday to Friday until the end of March and take place at the following locations and times:

  • Tuesdays from 10.15am – Graylings, Beechfield Court, Millbrook, SO15 8SL
  • Wednesdays from 11.15am – Challis Court, Threefield Lane, Holyrood, SO14 3DQ
  • Thursdays from 11.15am – Fairfax Court, Hinkler Road, Thornhill, SO19 6FU
  • Fridays from 10.15am – Bassett Court, Bassett Green Road, Bassett, SO16 3FH.”

Spaces are limited and booking in advance is essential. This can be done by calling 023 8250 0050. Unfortunately, transport can’t be provided on this occasion.

Paul Hedges, Health Manager at Saints Foundation, said: “Saints Foundation and our Falls Recovery team are delighted to be supporting this essential service to support those that are most vulnerable and adversely affected by the current cost of living crisis.

“The warm spaces initiative is an opportunity to stay warm and connected whilst getting some valuable advice and exercise delivered by experienced professional falls prevention experts.”
