We’re pleased to announce that we will be offering pro bono PR assistance to a canal cleaning project organised by a community group in Bridgwater.
Rage Against Rubbish was formed by Jason Winter, Damien Vass, Dan Perry and his eight-year-old son Riley, all kayakers, who regularly paddle along the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal. They were fed up with seeing vast amounts of rubbish and discarded items in the waterway. The team organises monthly litter picks along the canal and tow path.
Our PR Manager, Sarah explained: “I was looking for a local community project to get involved with and I read about the group on Facebook. It seemed like the perfect fit as I am very passionate about the environment and also an avid recycler.
“We will be helping the group raise awareness of their litter picking events and also helping them gain more volunteers throughout the year.
“The team at Porcupine PR and I feel it’s important to look after Bridgwater and do our bit for the environment. Litter isn’t just unsightly for us, but it can harm wildlife and also an increase in litter can lead to an increase in rats. It can also cause drain blockages that can lead to flooding too. We want to do our bit to help make the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal a litter free and pleasant place to be.”
No one is too old or young to join a litter pick as the youngest member is Dan’s eight-year-old son, Riley. Rage Against Rubbish do ask that all children are supervised by adults.
Dan added: “We really appreciate the support Sarah and the team are providing us with pro bono. It’s just fantastic. Their professional advice and guidance has been a great help to us so far. We can’t thank them enough.”
