SOMERSET foodies are being invited next month (October, 2018) to a tasting and auction evening at a restaurant in the county to raise funds for a children’s charity.
The River Parrett Restaurant is hosting the event in aid of its Charity of the Year, Brainwave, on Wednesday, October 10.
Owner of the Salmon Parade business, Mariusz Muskietorz, who also owns the Maja Delicatessen in Bridgwater, said: “We wanted to hold an evening dedicated to Brainwave and at the same time tickle the taste buds of attendees. Our Head Chef, Lukas Grzesik, has created a special eight course tasting menu, which will include amuse-bouche, two starters, intermezzo, two mains, dessert and petit four.
“On the menu there will be delicious dishes such as slow roast beef fillet, celeriac olive oil mousse with pearl barley, cured halibut, marinated three-way beetroot with seasonal mushrooms and chocolate mousse, caramelized hazelnut with a spinach sponge.
“After the scrumptious dinner we will host an auction with all the money raised going to Brainwave. The charity has helped to source a selection of auction prizes including a signed Arsenal football by the first team, two tickets to Yeovil Town Football Club, a family ticket to Scarlets Rugby as well as a few sporting photos and paintings.
“We are also delighted that Peter Rixon, an Associate from Greenslade Taylor Hunt, will be conducting the auction for us. All of the money from the auction and half of the money raised from the tickets sales will be donated to Brainwave. It looks set to be a fantastic evening.”
Brainwave helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence by aiming to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of educational and physical therapies.
The children Brainwave works with have a range of conditions including autism, brain injuries such as cerebral palsy and genetic disorders such as Down’s syndrome.
Phil Edge, Chief Executive at Brainwave, said: “We’re very grateful to The River Parrett Restaurant for hosting the tasting and auction evening to raise funds for our charity. We’re looking forward to the evening and it’s fantastic that a local business is able to offer support to a local charity. We really hope people support the event.”
The tasting and auction evening will commence at 7pm on Wednesday, October 10. Tickets cost £55 per person and are available from The River Parrett Restaurant.
The restaurant offers a seasonal menu using fresh, British produce. It provides a choice of lunchtime and evening dishes. All its food is freshly prepared on the premises and its ingredients are sourced locally.
The River Parrett Restaurant gives a modern British brasserie feel, offering informal, high-end food with the focus on providing a quality customer experience.
