SOMERSET quiz lovers are invited to sign up for Rumwell Farm Shop’s Charity Quiz & Supper Evening which makes its welcome return next month (September 2021) at the family-run farm shop.
The evening will once again be raising money for the Conquest Centre in Norton Fitzwarren and will take place at Rumwell Farm Shop’s Café on Friday, September 10 from 6.30pm.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the Farm Shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, explained: “We’re looking forward to our Charity Quiz & Supper Evening returning next month. Last year we raised a fantastic £700 for Conquest Centre and we’re looking forward to making the event even bigger and better.
“The quiz promises to be a fun evening out for everyone who enters and there will be plenty of delicious food and drink to enjoy. It will also be a great opportunity to bring out some competitive spirit in aid of a great cause.
“Those interested can enter up to eight people per team to be in with a chance of winning a hamper for each team member and the glory of taking home the Rumwell Cup.
“We will also be hosting a raffle on the night with a selection of prizes from our shop, our suppliers and friends. All of the money raised from the raffle will be donated to Conquest Centre.”
Supper will be served from 7pm with hot food choices followed by a selection of desserts. It costs £15.99 for two courses and the price includes a £1 quiz entry fee, which will be given to the charity. To book a table, please visit the Rumwell Farm Shop website, as all bookings are online only.
Conquest Centre’s mission is: ‘To provide therapeutic support involving equines, small animals and the environment to enable each individual to thrive.’ All activities are delivered by qualified instructors with specialist expertise in working with people with additional physical and behavioural or emotional needs, and are supported by a team of specially trained volunteers.
Core activities include riding, horse and small animal care, Thrive Approach Therapy and sensory work, all provided in either group or private sessions as appropriate.
Jess Dixon, Centre Manager at Conquest Centre, said: “We’re thrilled that Rumwell Farm Shop is supporting our work again this year with their Charity Quiz & Supper Evening.
“We’ve built a strong relationship with Rumwell and they’ve been instrumental in raising money and awareness for the work we do. We hope this year’s event proves to be as popular as it has been previously and that lots of people book a table and get involved.
“We know from the feedback we receive that people using our services benefit in terms of their health, well-being, learning and development. We want to be able to continue to help people in the area for many years to come and the support from local businesses is essential. Thanks again to everyone at Rumwell and all their customers.”
Conquest Centre provides more than 150 equine/small animal activity sessions each week for the community.
Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate.
Due to customer demand, the product range soon increased, and the business grew. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved, as well as their daughters-in-law, Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. There is also The Rumwell Flower Shed on-site, a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar and Gift Room.
Its own, home-grown potatoes are available, when in season, as well as everything from fruit, vegetables and groceries to plants, mostly British-grown cut flowers, gifts and cards.
The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, roast carvery Sunday lunches and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
The Charity Quiz & Supper Evening in aid of Conquest Centre will take place at Rumwell Farm Shop on Friday, September 10 from 6.30pm.
