A LADIES’ choir from Taunton will be performing during a Christmas carvery evening at an award-winning farm shop to help raise funds for charity next month (December 2022).
Singsational will be performing at Rumwell Farm Shop on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington during its Candlelight Christmas meal on December 8 from 6.30pm in aid of Love Musgrove.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the Farm Shop, says: “It’s wonderful to see the return of our traditional Candlelight Christmas Carvery again this year. It’s a great opportunity for people to get together with friends and family to enjoy a festive meal ahead of the big day.
“The event will include fundraising for Love Musgrove and we’ll have the wonderful choir Singsational performing some toe-tapping carols and festive tunes too. We will have collection tins and buckets on site, as well as hosting a festive raffle.
“In previous years, this event has been a great success and we’ve always had lots of fun with everyone who has joined us. We’re looking forward to seeing even more faces at this year’s event and welcoming them to celebrate the festive season with our team.”
Love Musgrove funds things at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton above and beyond what the NHS covers. It helps to create a comfortable, engaging environment for patients that supports family and friends too.
The charity also provides staff with training and development opportunities, including state of the art equipment, and enables wards to buy items to make patients’ stays more comfortable.
Musgrove Park Hospital serves a population of more than 544,000 people across Somerset with more than 740 beds, 34 wards, 15 operating theatres, a fully equipped imaging department and a purpose-built cancer treatment centre.

Rumwell Farm Shop, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate 25 years ago.
Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as daughters-in-law Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop, which has won nine Taste of the West Gold Awards this year for its shop and café and also for some of its made onsite products, has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. It’s traditional, dry cured back bacon was recently given the title of overall Champion Bacon in the Taste of the West Awards.
There is also a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar, Gluten Free Kitchen and Gift Room. Its Café kitchen has also achieved Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free accreditation.
The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, Sunday carvery and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
